First trip last Sunday, fished from dark til 10 am. Foul hooked a big sturgeon. Big takedown. Yes! Noooo.
I never saw it so I don't know how big, but it pulled 300' of line like a sea lion, then turned and swam just above the pilings/jetty I was hooked to and parked. I couldn't budge it but released and manuevered over to it, got to 30' on the line counter, bow nosed right into the pilings, line going upriver between two pilings, and my kwik popped off, miracle! I was glad to get that plug back.

I doubt it was foul hooked. We catch and release a lot of accidental sturgeon on kwiks.

I'm still waiting for you to catch one before I try. Dress warm and bring a heater!

As I sit here by the woodstove I hope you are finding that unicorn.
I'd better run out to the wood shed, it's down to 85 in here.

Had a monster take down that snapped a 1062 in 1/2 before I even had a hand on it. Probably a oversize sturgeon. 2 rods in the boat all day on the hook dark to dark and that was the only bite we got. On anchor and our best of our working plugs wrapped in tuna. Water temps is still at 38 degrees down here. Were going to wait 2 more weeks and pray for 41 degrees anyhow. There was only 1 other boat out our ramp and he was a newbie trolling triangles and spinners all day on the outgoing tide
We marked somewhere around 15 or so fish today that my guess was salmon which was far better than last Friday.
