Fish and Wildlife Commission to Meet Friday

PORTLAND - The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet in public session Friday, July 11, to amend rules on grass carp stocking and disposal of wildlife parts from certain states.

The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission is the rule-making body for ODFW. The seven-member panel meets monthly to adopt rules and set policy for ODFW to implement. The Commission starts the meeting at 8 a.m. and proceeds through the agenda in order. The following items are on the agenda:

· Director's report on regional activities, Pacific Fishery Management Council pending decisions, river bank access near Cole Rivers Hatchery and bighorn sheep controlled hunt draw;
· Shikar-Safari award presentation for enforcement officer of the year;
· Adoption of a rule to allow the annual Access and Habitat Program auction and raffle to be held;
· Adoption of a rule to identify proper disposal methods for specific parts of cervid carcasses imported from states with chronic wasting disease;
· Informational briefing on trends, market conditions, and trapping and hunting seasons for furbearing and unprotected mammals;
· Adoption of a final order on contested cases related to developmental fisheries permits;
· Adoption of a rule to implement a pilot program to allow the sale of fish at locations away from a commercial fishing vessel; and
· Amend current rules related to grass carp stocking to allow exceptions.

In addition, the Commission will meet in executive session to consult with legal counsel on records not open for public inspection. The executive session is being held pursuant to ORS 192.660(1)(f).

Public testimony will be taken on each agenda item with the exception of the executive session and contested case hearing. Sign-up sheets will be provided at the meeting. Agenda item exhibits may be requested by calling the ODFW Director's Office at (503) 872-5272.

Persons seeking to testify for up to five minutes on other issues not on the formal agenda may do so by making arrangements at least 24 hours in advance. "Unscheduled testimony" must be arranged by calling Mike Lueck, ODFW Director's Office, at (503) 872-5272. Unscheduled testimony occurs around 1 p.m. and is limited to about six speakers.
