No catch limits at Thief Valley Reservoir
LA GRANDE - Plans to drain Thief Valley Reservoir prompted the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to remove daily catch limits at Thief Valley Reservoir in the Southeast Oregon fishing zone.
The Lower Powder River Irrigation District recently announced that the reservoir will be drained by Sept. 1, 2003. As a result, remaining legal and trophy-sized rainbow trout stocked in the reservoir this spring will become trapped and stressed in isolated pools of warm and many will die. To allow these fish to be taken by anglers, the following temporary rule changes have been made at Thief Valley Reservoir located in the SE Zone:
Effective Aug. 25 - Sept. 30, 2003, the temporary rules are:
Thief Valley Reservoir is open to angling for all game species with the following conditions: (a) No daily catch or possession limits. (b) Harvest allowed by hand, dip net or angling.
