There's a couple rivers in WA that are open for night fishing. Been that way for years.

 

As long as it’s not listed as night closure it’s open for night fishing in WA. Rest assured, only ethical fisherman fish under the cover of darkness for salmon

 

I've gotten into a few night time coho bites casting glow hoochie spinners on the cow

 

Nope. Not a new thing on the upper Columbia. Done it a few times over the years (couldn't sleep, read the clock wrong - 12:30 IS NOT 2:30, or stayed out past dark) without any success. As soon as that last or first light creeps over or past the horizon it's game on though.

 

We used to do the majority of our summer fishing for steelhead at night during the 90s. For much of that there was a night closure for salmon. We caught them pretty frequently on blinking plugs and U20 flatfish.

They removed the salmon night closure at one point i dont know if it stayed that way as I kinda aged out of the fish and drink all night then stagger into work phase.

Reading this actually made me glad I live in Oregon and don’t fish in washington. There is a 0% chance I would have made it through college if this was available to me.

 

Used to night fish the local tribs every year until they shut it down when the steelhead numbers tanked. I miss that fishery. Most productive fishing we had.

 

Pulling lighted wiggle warts (over a decade ago) was one of the most fun fisheries I can remember. 3 fish before midnight and 3 after really stocks the freezer and pantry quickly.

 

I legally harvested 8 steelhead one night (two bag limits), four in the evening and then four more in the wee hours of the morning. Never again. I was still cutting and packing when it was time to go to work and I didnt feel all that special.

 

I used to do the overnight double dip on the cow by the mouth of the toutle for silvers...it was fun until the processing part was on deck 😂

 

My first coho drift fishing was glo balling. Super fun and different fishing.
