Fished the Necanicum this morning on the incoming tide. I ended up with 7 nice flounder. I haven't done that since I was a kid (a long time ago), and it was just as much fun as I remembered.

feisty, I have caught flounder in the shallows over by Chinook jetty and up by the old ship above the bridge while fishing for sturgeon. I don't know about Ilwaco, but I don't see why not.

Fish_N_Russ, I used to fish for them in Siletz bay when I was a kid. We would fish off the dock at the boat rental place, and catch perch and flounder.

I used to fish the Necanicum every year for flounder, this time of year!
Thanks for the memories! It's so fun!

We used to get them in Sand Lake too, Nestucca Bay and off Cape Kaiwanda on the South side. Been years since I did that....mmmmm, sounds good!

doryboy22,
I just went behind the High School. There is a small parking area and viewing area there and you can walk down to the river. I didn't start catching any flounder until the tide stopped running out. Before that I only caught a bunch of little crab. I used sand shrimp on a #4 gold hook with about 2 ounces of lead. Most of the fish were about a pound and a half, but one was about 2 and a half pounds.
