Hi all. I just got back from a week-long NE WA moose hunt. Not my tag, my buddy's. So... long story short, we didn't get one yet. Long story:

My buddy doesn't have a flexible schedule and is in a complicated situation with his wife (not expanding, not my business). Between work schedules and kid swapping he was only able to scout one weekend. Basically, got some access points and the lay of the unit; actually... basic is the exact word here. No real intel on where animals live.

We hunt pretty hard. Sun-up to sun-down, hiking, glassing, e-scouting. In this area we're also able to drive some lumber company roads. We expected full-rut activity since it is the first week of Oct. So we hiked, called, hiked into remote locations. Only got one weak grunt through all this. Meanwhile, guys driving roads did ok, almost half the tagholders got one (that we know of).

So, I'm hoping some that have experience hunting post-rut moose in WA/ID/MT can weigh-in with some tips. Where do they go, what do they eat, what is the best tactic to find them etc.
