~North Santiam creel encountered 157 anglers. There were 3 summer steelhead caught and kept, 16 spring chinook caught and kept, 11 chinook released, and 1 cutthroat released. As of July 27, the ACE has maintained the flow in the North Santiam at 850 cfs. Virtually all of the fishing activity has been on the upper reaches. A few sexually mature chinook have been observed on the upper North Santiam. Water temperatures at Mehema ranged from 52 to 63 degrees F.

~South Santiam creel encountered 250 anglers. There were 44 summer steelhead caught and kept, 6 spring chinook were kept, and 10 chinook were released. There were 2 rainbow with mark unknown, 17 trout species unknown, and 1 smolt released. As of July 27, the ACE has maintained the flow in the South Santiam at 650 cfs.

~Foster Lake creel encountered 70 anglers. There was 34 rainbows kept, 7 rainbows released, 3 smallmouth bass released, 1 bluegill kept, 1 bluegill released, and 1 cutthroat kept. Boat angling is still the majority of the fishing pressure. Trolling along Hwy 20 from the S. Santiam arm bridge to Shea Point has produced most of the fish caught. The water temperature continues to stay warm and the trout are found around 30-40 feet down.

~Green Peter-10 anglers with 117 kokanee. Thistle Creek still remains the only boat ramp access. As of July 27, the ACE has maintained the flow from Green Peter dam at 680 cfs.

~McKenzie River creel encountered 112 anglers. There were 3 summer steelhead caught and kept, 1 summer steelhead released, 3 spring chinook caught and kept, and 5 chinook released. In addition, there were 20 hatchery rainbows kept, 32 hatchery trout released, 3 unmarked rainbows released, and 4 cutthroat released. As of July 27, the ACE has maintained the flow from Cougar dam at 220 cfs. Cougar is empty due to construction of a water temperature control structure. Cougar quit generating on April 1, 2002 and will remain out of service until 2005.

~Middle Fork Willamette creel encountered 276 anglers. There were 16 summer steelhead caught and kept, 8 steelhead released, 13 spring chinook kept, 22 chinook released, and 6 cutthroat caught. As of July 27, the ACE has maintained the flow coming out of Lookout Point Reservoir at 2530 cfs.

~Adult traps on the North Santiam (Stayton Island) captured 40 marked summer steelhead, 119 marked spring chinook, and 16 unmarked spring chinook in the traps. To date, there have been 1853 marked summer steelhead, 40 unmarked summers, 679 winter steelhead, 5751 marked spring chinook, and 604 unmarked chinook caught in the traps. The number of fish caught in the traps continues to drop. Several hundred chinook remain below upper Bennett Dam. Five lamprey were observed in the lower Bennett trap during setup this week. These were the first lamprey observed on the North Santiam this season. Temperatures in the Bennett traps ranged between 57 and 60 degrees F this week.

~The Leaburg trap captured 17 marked summer steelhead, 14 unmarked summer steelhead, 50 marked spring chinook, and 53 unmarked spring chinook. To date, there have been 74 marked summer steelhead, 16 unmarked summer steelhead, 267 marked spring chinook, and 136 unmarked spring chinook captured in the trap.

~The Foster Dam trap (South Santiam) is closed until Mid-August.
