Back this week for your viewing pleasure.

~North Santiam creel encountered 395 anglers. There were 21 summer steelhead caught and kept, 73 spring chinook caught and kept, and 9 chinook released.

~South Santiam creel encountered 356 anglers. There were 28 summer steelhead caught and kept, 65 spring chinook were kept, and 12 chinook were released. There were 9 rainbow with mark unknown, 11 cutthroat, 6 trout species unknown, and 1 smolt released. Fishing pressure is mainly at Lebanon Dam, Waterloo, and the Wiley Creek area. They have stopped spilling water from Foster so the water level is dropping into shape.

~Foster Lake creel encountered 207 anglers. There was 178 rainbows kept, 28 rainbows released, and 2 steelhead smolt released. Boats did well on Foster and most bank angling was concentrated near the dam.

~Green Peter-I talked to 2 boat anglers who were cleaning their fish at Sunnyside. They had 31 kokanee and 1 rainbow and they had released 1 rainbow. They said that it has been slow. The water is down about 75 feet. The boat ramp at Whitcomb Creek is hard to launch and they said that there is a spot where it's so low you almost hit the shore.

~McKenzie River creel encountered 109 anglers. There were 5 summer steelhead caught and kept, 5 spring chinook caught and kept, and 6 chinook released. In addition, there were 27 hatchery rainbows kept, and 60 hatchery trout released. Stomach contents of 373 hatchery trout recovered from releases in the McKenzie River have been examined this season. Most trout had ingested only aquatic insects, however, 8 chinook fry and two unidentified salmonids have been found. It appears that hatchery trout do feed on chinook fry, but at a very low rate (approx. 2%).

~Middle Fork Willamette creel encountered 423 anglers. There were 34 summer steelhead caught and kept, 7 steelhead released, 28 spring chinook kept, and 12 chinook released.

~Adult traps on the North Santiam (Stayton Island) captured 108 marked summer steelhead, 1 unmarked summer steelhead, 629 marked spring chinook, and 73 unmarked spring chinook in the traps. To date, there have been 1070 marked summer steelhead, 19 unmarked summers, 679 winter steelhead, 3642 marked spring chinook, and 433 unmarked chinook caught in the traps. We have already handled 4,075 chinook this season in the North Santiam. Last year, a record year for sping chinook in the North Santiam, we handled a total of 4,212 fish over the course of the entire season.

~In the bypass screw trap at Leaburg Dam, there were 10 adult summer steelhead, 35 unmarked steelhead smolt, 77 unmarked spring chinook smolt, 17 rainbows, 1 cutthroat, and 20 lamprey captured. To date, there have been 63 adult summers, 503 unmarked steelhead smolt, 23904 unmarked chinook smolt, 76 rainbows, 15 cutthroat, and 57 lamprey captured in the trap.

~The Foster Dam trap (South Santiam) captured 4 winter steelhead, 368 summer steelhead, and 710 spring chinook. There were 496 summer steelhead and 540 chinook recycled downstream (to Pleasant Valley Bridge or Waterloo Park). To date, there have been 856 winter steelhead, 2792 summer steelhead, and 949 chinook captured in the trap.
