~North Santiam creel encountered 71 anglers. There was 1 chinook released, 1 cutthroat released, and 2 smolt released. As of August 28, the ACE has increased the flow in the North Santiam to 1000 cfs. Flows will increase to 1500 cfs on September 2nd. Water temperatures at Mehama ranged between 50 and 60 degrees. Chinook season closed on August 15th and reopens on November 1st.

~South Santiam creel encountered 96 anglers. There were 3 summer steelhead kept, 17 chinook released, 3 cutthroat released, and 3 smolt released. As of August 28, the ACE has maintained the flow in the South Santiam at 550 cfs. The season for chinook closed on August 15th and will reopen on November 1st.

~Foster Lake creel encountered 54 anglers. There were 38 rainbows kept, 6 rainbows released, 5 smallmouth bass kept, and 2 crappie released. The water temperature continues to stay warm (~72 degrees) and the trout are found around 30-40 feet down.

~Green Peter-I only talked to two anglers and they had 1 kokanee. They said that it was slow for everyone around them as well. The Thistle Creek ramp is still the only boat ramp access. As of August 28, the ACE has lowered the flow from Green Peter dam to 510 cfs.

~McKenzie River creel encountered 103 anglers. There were 2 summer steelhead kept, 1 summer steelhead released, and 1 chinook released. In addition, there were 19 hatchery rainbows kept, 9 hatchery trout released, 9 unmarked rainbows released, and 4 smolt released. As of August 28, the ACE has lowered the flow from Cougar dam to 160 cfs. Cougar is empty due to construction of a water temperature control structure. Cougar quit generating on April 1, 2002 and will remain out of service until 2005. Stomach contents of 878 hatchery trout recovered from releases in the McKenzie River have been examined this season. Most trout had ingested only aquatic insects, however, 9 chinook fry, 10 unidentified salmonids, one sculpin and a lamprey ameoceote have been found.

~Middle Fork Willamette creel is completed for the 2003 season. As of August 28, the ACE has lowered the flow coming out of Lookout Point Reservoir to 2150 cfs.

~Adult traps on the North Santiam (Stayton Island) captured 6 marked summer steelhead, 1 unmarked summer steelhead, 12 marked spring chinook, and 2 unmarked spring chinook. To date, there have been 1898 marked summer steelhead, 42 unmarked summers, 679 winter steelhead, 5843 marked spring chinook, and 621 unmarked chinook caught in the traps. Flows were increased in the North Santiam Sept. 2 and fish were observed moving into the trap as it was being set today.

~The Leaburg trap captured 0 marked summer steelhead, 0 unmarked summer steelhead, 8 marked spring chinook, and 1 unmarked spring chinook. To date, there have been 110 marked summer steelhead, 18 unmarked summer steelhead, 268 marked spring chinook, and 384 unmarked spring chinook captured in the trap.

~The Foster Dam trap (South Santiam) has been reopened. It will reopen in Mid-August. To date, there have been 858 winter steelhead, 4123 summer steelhead, and 5032 spring chinook captured in the trap.
