With waterfowl season about to start tomorrow.
We once again get 107 days to go out and find our water loving prey.

We will see many threads from accomplished hunters who have the discipline, and know how to consistently kill 7 drake mallards.
While for some that may be a good day.

There are those of us who have other goals in mind.
I for one would like to accomplish the following limits for this season.
3 Scaup 2 Red heads 2 Cans, or 7 Widgeon, or 7 teal, or 7 woodies, etc.

Looking on another forum, one IFISH members wants 7 spoonies,
or perhaps someone would be happy with 25 coots.

What is a good day, thats your definition.
If people are interested, perhaps we could share our pics on this thread.

Similar to the 2007-2008 Trophy thread used primarily by big game.
Perhaps the mods can make this thread a sticky and we can see what everyone considers a good day.

7 drake teal would be a good one, i got 5 of 7 last year pretty much by accident though, but it got me thinking that 7 drakes of the small birds would be a good limit?

25 coots, 1 merganser, 4 shovelers, a immature pintail (like smallest tail contest winner style), and a hen greenwing teal

A limit without a mallard in it...if it's a wish list make it widgeon and pintail. Spoonies will work just fine.

regards, aw

Here are two limits I'm seeking:

Diver Grand Slam:

1 - Canvasback Drake
1 - Redhead Drake
1 - Blue Bill Drake
1 - Ringneck Drake
1 - Goldeney Drake (Barrow's or Common... extra points for Barrow's)
1 - Bufflehead Drake
1 - Ruddy Drake

(I think technically a Bufflehead is a sea duck, not that it needs the sea duck validation to shoot here in Oregon)

Puddler Grand Slam:

1 - Mallard Drake
1 - Pintail Drake
1 - Wigeon Drake (extra points for Eurasian)
1 - Teal Drake (extra points for anything other than Green Wing)
1 - Gadwall Drake
1 - Wood Duck Drake
1 - Spoon Bill Drake

Must all be taken on the same day, in the same spot, with the same gun.

I also think shooting one each of the three types of Scoters here in Oregon would be very cool and not very easy.

I'm trying not to kill any hens and only as mature a bird as possible. It'll be tough, but will make the shooting more fun. I'll also have my 14 yo Brother in law with me so I hope that will encourage his conservation efforts too.

I see your 25 coots and raise to the first person who will eat half of the quarry! :passout:

I think it would be a feat to down 7 drake smiling mallards, but this year I might just be happy with limits :help:
