Hey folks! Headed to Mayfield Lake in April for a few days. I've never fished the Lake before. I'll be bringing the boat. I'd like to put the kids on some fish, is the trout / kokanee fishing good at this Lake?

Thanks in advance!

They plant lots of rainbow trout in Mayfield starting some time in April and throughout the summer. The fishing is pretty easy if you hit it after a plant. No need to fish deep. Troll a flasher or lake troll followed by a wedding ring or hootchie tipped with gulp maggot or worm.

If you are launching from the county park boat launch head right until you reach the end of the main lake. At this point you would either have to go up the cowlitz arm on the right side of lake or the tilton arm on the left side of lake. I fish in this area of the lake, mainly on the tilton side. You will probably see other boats trolling this area. If there are any fish to be had they will likely be shallow. Check the WDFW site for their recent plants, I just did and there have not been any yet. Good luck !
