My wife retired last year (medical field ) the problem she is having some of the old places she worked are no longer in business before she spent 20 years at Kaiser Permanente ! So is there anyone here that would know how we can track down information on how to find out where the retirement money is ?

For nonunion in Oregon the secretary of state should have the information. If it was a union job the union will have the information. Does she remember any one she worked With's name? They may have Information too. people finder is your friend on that.
If it was a bill I'm sure you'd have no problem.

You should have statements from contributions ,,gains, losses .Usually a quarterly mailer 🤔👍🏻

That stopped long ago
Did you follow up when the statements stopped coming 🤔 ? Did you save the statements?

Is this for an annuity/pension or 401k? Was she vested? It usually takes 5+ years to become vested.

When I reached 65, Social Security sent me a statement of my retirement plans. One of my ex-employers had claimed significant retirement savings in my name but never notified me, ever, that they had made retirement contributions in my name. That company is long gone: I figure so is the retirement money they had in my name. When a company is run by people with questionable ethics, I suspect there are many ways to run scams on your retirement income using your social security info. I have no idea what penalties there are to a defunct company's officers that run retirement scams - I figure it is just another way people with marginal ethics can game the system and ex-employees are SOL. I will be watching this thread with interest - not figuring there is much hope.
