EA, check the Oncology directory at OHSU, they have one of the best Oncology departments in the country.

No you are not asking too much. I do know that one of the MD's on staff up there treated Lance Armstrong. An old hunting partner of mine, his son sees the same MD, except for a tumor in the brain. He was given 2 years, 12 years ago, so something must be working right. I don't talk to him much anymore, so I'm afraid a name will not be forth coming.

I'd phone Northwest Cancer Specialists. Contrary to OHSU's exceptional media presence, NCS is the largest Oncology practice in the Northwest and just won one of the most prestigious awards in the country (one of seven nationally) for their research.

thank you all for your input. I do not have cancer at this time...had it from 14 to 20 years and have been cancer free for 15 years this January 29th past (wwwaahhooooooo). I just need someone who understands the after effects of chemo and the like. Medications affect me differently and I cannot tolerate any large doses of anything. Such as....fur surgery I require only half of the anesthesia. Most doctors want me to take large doses of hormones or have annuall exams (had a total hysterectomy at 20 years old-nothing to test yearly). I get frustrated trying to find an md. Hate changes.....any info would be great. thanks!!! ElizabethAnne : )

I think we are very fortunate to have many well known and good physicians in this area. No doubt it is due to the lifestyle and great fishing.

An update on one of Lance's physicians - Dr Nichols has recently moved to Providence.

However, his specialty is probably not what you are looking for. I will PM you with a person at OHSU specializing in gynecological cancer. If your insurance is with another group, perhaps I can recommend another person. There are a lot of fine people in the area and I am sure you will be able to find one that matches your personality and needs. Just keep looking till you find them.

Out there in Hillsboro there is Dr Mark Stone and Dr Gibbs. They are right across from the hospital.

They are both very good physicians and Oncologist. I have worked with them in in the past.

Good luck!

Dr. Pierce also has a practice in McMinnville. Very good Doc. - He has a new partner - a female Dr. O'brian that I like very much as well (in McMinnville). Great people, great care. I've had personal experience with both Doc's. Highly recommended. If you want more info just pm me... good luck. zip
