Looking to possibly add a 10x20 utility shed to one side of the house. I see lots of options from Tuff Shed on to a few more local outfits. Would love to hear if anyone has recommendations or warnings about anything before I shell out ten grand.

We have a Tuff Shed. Close to 18-20 years old. Only problem was with the trim not being solid wood. I would buy again.

We have dealers all around Central and Eastern Wash for Old Hickory Sheds. Similar to what you are looking for, My neighbor bought one seems happy with it. Looks to be in and around the Portland area

Sundance Rockery in East Vancouver sells a line of sheds. (Old Hickory I think)
They look good although I have no first hand experience.

Tuff Shed has nice proprietary door hardware and I believe they use steel floor joists.
A plus in my book.

Pro Tip
Raccoons, possums and skunks like to make homes under sheds.
Think about some sort of barrier to keep them out.
Also, if shed is being placed over dirt, a heavy visqeen vapor barrier laid down first,, would be a good thing.

My dad has a hickory shed. Had it 4 or 5 years and really likes it. The dealer was at the intersection of 213 and beavercreek rd in Oregon City. SW side right next to the used RV outfit.

I know the spot! I should pay them a visit. Really liking the looks of the Hickory sheds. Plus they can help with the leveling as part of the purchase, which I like.

We bought one through Costco a couple of years ago. They had a demo unit in the store and a salesperson to learn about the different options. It took the installer 1 day to build it in our backyard, and its been great.

I never think about Costco, but definitely worth adding to the shopping list

I had a guy build me one. This was about 12 years ago, but an 8X10 with two windows cost me around $1200-$1400. It was a rad shed, it took him and his wife about 6 hours to complete, and performed flawlessly for the few years I owned it. It sold with the house in 2015. Man, I miss that shed.......

I bought a 10x12 tough shed 2nd hand. Moved it myself and made a mistake when unloading it. Tipped it on it's side. WHOOPS. Tipped it back up-right, zero damage. It's been great.

Yeah I thought about doing 2nd hand, but I have no means of transporting it myself. I have the truck, but none of the other required tools to do the job.

Depending on your timeline, late spring Lowe's does end of model year, and display models are pretty cheap. They deliver and put where you want it already built... But, this assumes you would be willing to wait 6 months, and that you are able to have a shed delivered. My brother did it and he loves it. I am currently building my own 10x14 because no way to get a pre-built one in my backyard, and didn't want to pay for a kitted one.

My father in law had the Costco one put in, he loves it so far. 10x12 I believe.

My wife said I could buy the boat if a shed followed... this summer has been making the shed, almost there! (with a happy wife, and a boat)

My folks have two 10X20 Tuffsheds and they are great.

My wife and I actually spent a month living in one of them last year after we moved from North to South.

I purchased a 12x16 TuffShed at the Sportsmen's Show. They offered a nice discount there. It's the largest I could get without a stupid country permit. Perfectly happy with it. Had to replace the roof because the ice storm a couple winters ago crashed three trees on it.

lots of storage up top for items not needed that often.
I think it is the best for the money out of all i looked at.

My wife and I are kind of zeroing in on that exact same model. That just seems like a whole lot of shed for the money.

Next up on the agenda: What kinds of tricks do the lot of you use to keep unsavory individuals from helping themselves to my gas cans inside?

A friend contacted the shop teacher at his local high school. The teacher helped draw up the plans. Students put all the walls, floor, doors, and roof structure together at the school and loaded it on a trailer. My friend had a slab poured to place it on. the day of delivery came and the shed was up, looking great, and painted in half a day. I don't know the final cost but my friend feels he saved a bundle by going this route. Just a thought.
