Has anyone done well on the Chinook or Steelhead on the CR at Rainier/Longview or the mouth of the Kalama area.

I don't know about the longview area but my dad and a few of his friends have been fishing the woodland area for the past week and a half. Fishing is great there! Upwords of 30 fish in 9 days, between 3 guys!!!!
NO JOKE!!!!!!!!!

caught 5 stealhead just a little east of the county line.
and there is a place about a mile east or so you can see a triangle harker
near the bank good spot.
a bout 15 to 20' out.
you need to use a rock for your sinker.
used a clown spin glo with white wings.
tip that with shrimp tail works good.
all 5 fish were about 8 lbs.

Why do you need to use a rock? Are you fishing from the bank?

yes i am fishing from thr bank.
if you fish the county line you can use weights.
but i fish in the rocks no sand.
if you use a weight you can't any of your rig back.
if you tie on let say 3 oz rock you get everthing back.
i use 2 lb test tie around a rock then wrap it with black tape so it stays.
make a loop in the 2 lb test also attach to rock.
take a snap swivel and atach it to the bottom of your 3 way swivel.
the loop you made when tying the rock goes to rhe snap swivel.
this way if you catch a fish you are only fighting the fish.
this works good if you want to fish in the rocks for stealhead.
they are really close to the bank.
10 to 12 ft of water.
give this a try you won't get stuck in any more rocks.
