As I said in another post, the Kenai has been doing berry berry well for this time of year. The catch rate is good, with the size being even better.
There is the slot limit in effect during the month of June, keeping only kings under 44 and over 55 inches. But the local Kenai River Guides Assoc. is offering $900.00 towards a fiberglass mount of a released fish over 48 inches, a hell of a deal.
My cousin (and primary killen' partner) is a guide at Riverbend Resort at Soldotna. This is the best early run he's experienced. Lots of nice fish just under the slot, plus a few "hogs" that he had to release. They also got a 55 pounder about 10 days ago off of Deep Creek on a 50/50 trip. It looks the right year to head North!!!
