I have never fished the Kalama but have always wanted to. Now where do I go for some of the better fishing? Where is a good spot for steelhead or springers with enough room to swing flies if I wanted to? Then are there still steelhead in it or all springers?

You won't know til you wet a line. There are springers in the system but an early summer run may surprise you.

I would call Mahaffeys or Pritchards and get a water report. With the way it has been raining the Kalama will probably be out. Clears up in a day or two most of the time though. There are Steelhead in there pretty much year around.
