I do use Discount tire to buy most tires but I usually go to LS for brakes. I think LS still has better service than most Discount Tires. Except for the DT in Hillsboro. Excellent service there. Far better than any other DT location I have

I had a horrible experience with brakes at LS where my caliper became a danger less than 1000 miles from having my installed. Took it to a LS in Davenport Wa and they asked why new calipers were not installed. Their pc was down so they couldn’t see another one of there’s shops installed it. Tillamook shop is full of great people but told me I needed new tires but in reality needed new hubs. Most work was done at Tigard LS on all accounts. Had a credit dispute with Discount and will never shop there again. I go to LS for tires only now and local shop for all other mechanical work or I do myself.

I stopped doing LS about 10 years ago I think. I started buying my tires online at that same time and took them to LS that I had been doing business with for 30+ years and one of my friends working there told me to go have them mounted at a low budget tire shop to save myself some money and time. That first time doing that back then I saved almost a $1000 on a set of 6 tires. I have done the online several times now and spend about $1500 for 6 truck tires and car tires are about $400 to $500 depending on the car. Trailer tires online are about $100ish. Over the last few years or more I took them to a local tire shop that charged $25ish per tire for mounting and balance. As of this year I purchased a tire mounting and balancing machines and started doing my own tires. I save about $25 per tire doing it myself and I'm getting much better results on the balancing and I get to balance my trailer tires that never ever got done. So in the last 9 months I figured that I saved close to $800 in mounting and balancing fees on all my vehicles and have done a few tires for my neighbors and friends. I figured by the end of next year the 2 machines will have paid for themselves. I will never ever do business with LS unless I absolutely need them for a tire repair somewhere on vacation.

I got over 70,000 miles on my last two sets of LS tires. Every time I go there they do their best to get me in and out quickly. They were also willing to negotiate a trade-in value for the tires that came on the truck and for the final price of the tires. I’m sure you can find tires for less, and Les Schwab isn’t the same company they were 20 years ago but they still work for me.

Been buying tires for 45 years. LS has great service, but you are going to pay for it. You can save $ elsewhere, but loose the convenance. They have a monopoly in the PNW and are not a bad company. You are just going to pay for that. I have had them go over and above to help me out.
That being said, I'm a retired mech so I get them at point S. Local shop is family owned and I have never been disappointed. My wife drives a lot for work and I was looking for tires for her. Costco had some winter rated [snow flake] all seasons with a 60,000 mile warranty. Asked point S about them and he said he could touch that, buy them. That is the kind of honesty I'm looking for. Still bought a set for my daughter from them and got the ones from costco for my wifes car. Probably won't do that again. I get great milage out of my tires from keeping up on air pressure, rotation and driving habits. I rotate every 5,000 and Costco gives the wife flak when she takes it in because they rotate every 7,500. That and just too much of a hassle to drive 1 hr round trip to Costco.
It's the local Point S for me.

Small local Point S here.....30 minute wait times and very good complimentary flat repair on their tires. Started going to this store when I grew tired of the automatic comment from schwab..."it will be two hours." And Point S beats them by over 10 percent on price

Discount or Costco for me. Our small town LS used to be great. Post buy out, not.

Michelin $40-60 off and free mounting at Costco starting 12/26. Their X-ice snows are my go to.

I go to Costco for my car and the wife’s, it’s easy, price is right and they rotate them for free.

It is right by my work so I can go after work, shop, and get tires rotated. makes the whole
Thing easy

If you are talking about the one on 185th, I've been going there for years. I like them too but they have damaged several of my aluminum center caps. They are very soft and easy to bend. Discount has replaced them several times. Next time I will remove the center caps before taking it in. They are getting harder and harder to find from the dealer or online.

For those who have their tires rotated or flat repairs at Costco, how long do you have to wait for a random drop in?
This varies massively by costco location and by day of the year and by time of the day. Last July 3rd I discovered I had a flat tire while out of town for the 4th, needed to leave the evening of July 4th to be back in town for work in the morning July 5th. Obviously they would be closed the 4th so it had to be the 3rd or bust. Portland Costco couldn't take me as a walk in. Clackamas said they would try to get it fixed before they closed. I aired it up and get it to them. It took them like 3 hours but they did get it done shortly before they closed. I would not expect to be able to drop in and have it done by the time you are done shopping.

Funny enough that same clackamas costco later made me about just swear off buying tires from costco ever again. I made an appointment to have new tires put on my van. I show up on time for my appointment, wait a couple hours for them to even get it in, wait another hour for them to call me and tell me that they don't use jacks and their lifts won't reach my frame or something and they can't go against what their computer says the jack spots are or they will be fired. So I have to go to customer service to have the tires returned. Next day Discount had me in and out in like 15 minutes. Discount tire has jacks. Imagine that, a tire shop with jacks.

Need new tires and struts for a Durango. LS has a bunch of no name tires. Is it still a good place for tires and such after the buy out?
I don't use them. Overpriced, our local one is not particularly pleasant to deal with. Don't care for their house brands as others have said.

I think they've grown their business to serve the low-mid income customers as a finance company. That and $125 to change seasonal tires twice a year. It ain't that good old boy in Prineville anymore.

I’ve been pricing out a new set of tires for my 2020 Toyota Tundra SR5 Crewmax TRD Off-road that has 18ā€ rims. I’m currently running the OEM tires or Michelin LTX in 275/65/18R, but am thinking about switching from a highway tire to an All Terrain. The BFG KO3’s have caught my eye and seem to be priced better than the Les Schwab branded tires. I have a little more due diligence to do, but I highly doubt (sadly to say) Les Schwab will be earning my business.

lapine has point-s and les schwab. when my neighbor who managed the les schwab for decades retired the changed for the worst. priced tires a couple times. insane prices. went to mikes tires in sunriver for all tire work since. i had point-s give me a price on 4 tires for my d2500 4x4 they where over $2200. i bought 5 for under $800 online then paid mikes $202 to mount 5. my time has little value but getting bids on tires is a waste of it. i'll be buying online from now on. amazon is your friend for tires
