Any input on Hewes Craft boats?

I own a Hewes craft myself 2nd one, I love the boat and service I get from them. But mine is a 22ft searunner.

What performance features are most important to you(Extreme shallow water capabilities, general all around use, big water 90% of the time, etc)?

The boat manufacturer is only part of the equation.

How it runs (whether it runs!) depends on the dealer that rigs it.

Even the best boat, if rigged by a chimp, just becomes a headache.

I have a Hewes 20' Sea Runner and love it. I use it mostly in big water though

As far as the big three goes, I would submit that Hewescraft has been making boats for almost 60 years! So, they may be smaller, but they build a heck of a boat! I like mine!

I bought a 19' Raider about 2 years ago. Raider's are virtually identical to the Hewes and as I understand it the guy that runs Raider worked for Hewes for some time. I compared the two boats and liked the Raider a bit better. Really all the welded boats made these days are nice and it boils down to personal preference.

If I were to buy another boat today though I would look closely at a Thunder Jet with an outboard on it in the 150HP range. I like the way the TJ looks and I also like how they sit a bit lower in the water which can be a nice feature on windy days. Whatever you get make sure it loads correctly!
