If a friend or family member is hunting with me and I loan them a gun: can I loan gun with suppressor? Or is the registration of that suppressor for use by me only?

I’ve never been checked for my stamps. Ever.

But, I believe you need to be with the can. He can use it, you just have to be there.

2 second google search…..

ā€œNo, you cannot simply "loan" a suppressor, as the National Firearms Act (NFA) requires the registered owner to maintain possession or be in physical proximity to the item, or for it to be owned by a trust. The only legal ways to share a suppressor are to be physically present with it, or to transfer ownership to a trust or another qualifying individual.

I can hear Barney Fife screaming now - Violation, violation!

Imo it's not likely unless the person you lend it to commits a crime with it or o/w draws attention to themselves. I just doubt field officers, spread as thin as they are, care much if you're otherwise behaving.

My understanding is you need to carry documentation. Not necessarily the actual paperwork. I took pictures of all documents on my phone. No sense in packing around the original documents to get lost or damaged and have to pay for it again. I could be wrong but that’s what I did.
