I have had my NR Seahawk with a Yamaha 200 for main for just over 5 years. I have 775 hours on the main.. I figure this probably equates to about 3,875 hours (main motor hours x 5 hours of trolling per trip) of use in my boat in just over 5 years. I am wondering how this compares to others out there? I am sure for those that tuna fish the ratio of main to actual boat use would be closer to 1/1, but for me trolling for salmon in the CR and Willy accounts for 90%+ of my use. How many hours

285 hours 2004. 90 evinrude e-Tec ocean
95% on kicker trolling for salmon. (Second owner)
I was wondering because previous posters are all ocean hours and CR do you do maintaince more often than the 300 hours suggested? Because having motor issues while crossing the bar can turn out badly.
I am wondering if I should just do 300 hour now including water pump this year instead of waiting another year.
Only thing I would do every year is lower gear unit.
What do other ocean goers do for maintenance schedule?

1300 hrs on twin Honda 150’s. One needs a trim relay. Both run great.

370 on my main a 150 Yammi. The kicker, a 9.9 Yammi 4-stroke probably has 3,000-4,000 on it or 10 hours for every hour on the main.

My use is a 50/50 mix of fresh and salt.

655hrs on a pair of twin Yamaha 250’s. (2013). Put 200 on them so far this summer but I am running a part time Charter. They run/purr perfectly. Zero issues thus far.

I've got 450 hours on my 175 Suzuki. Runs great. Probably 30 percent ocean, 20 percent fishing lakes and the big rivers and 50 percent towing my girls around on the tube. The smiles that you get from the kids tubing are priceless.

92ish I believe. But I've only been using it since February. I bet I'll average between 125 and 150 per year. Maybe more.

2002 Merc 115 4 stroke 1752 hrs, mostly ocean
My first engine was a 2006 YamaMerc 115HP EFI. I sold it with maybe 800 hours in 2015 when I repowered with the new Merc 115. The new one has 750 trouble-free hours, mostly trolling. Great motor.

A pair of 2003 Honda 130hp with over 1900 hours on each of them. All ocean hours. Every 2 years I change plugs, low & high pressure fuel filters, thermostats & fuel water separator filter. Engine oil and lower gearcase oil get changed every 100 hours. Water pump impeller is changed every 2-3 years. So far seems to be working.

My 2010 Yamaha 115 has about 750 hrs on it. About 100 are from me. I like to run on the 9.9 kicker when trolling, if at all possible, I just prefer driving the boat from a tiller handle rather than being up at the helm, and it keeps hours off the main as a bonus. 95% saltwater use from me, and I expect the previous owner(s) as well.
