I also broke the skeg (actually bent it badly) and had to have it repaired. Most marina supply stores have whole skegs that can be rewelded to the motor. It can be done (I am guessing) by most machine or fabrication shops. I took mine to a friend of mine who owns a welding/fabrication shop, and it was done in just a few minutes, and after I painted it, it looked like new. That was a Mercruser I/O. When repainting, be sure to clean everything off, and primer with zinc chromate, then put your finish paint on. It is really not a big deal.
