Fishing Tillamook Bay last Wed/Thur, met Jeannie & Bill, heard them catch their two fish on Wed. when Sandy River Ron and I were trying hard!

My 5hp Honda (2000) started acting up. Maybe you saw me with it up in the air.

Anyway, starts great runs fine for 10 to 20 minutes then dies. Open it up, turn the drain knob on the carburator, let out some gas, close up, starts right up, runs 10-20 minutes and then dies.

Dies fast, no sputtering or poor running just dies.

Any ideas folks?

This might sound funny, see if the vent of the gas tank is working properly. I had this happen before and could not figure it out, until I had
the gas cap off and it stayed running.

the vent had plugged up and would not allow enough
air in and the gas would not flow out. :shrug: :dance:

The Old Man has it right. I had this problem on an old Johnsons motor. Also, check that the ball-bearings in your fuel line are springing back. Just a little crud musses thing up. Good luck :cheers:

Yep.... I had a very very small slice in my fuel hose and it would run for a few minutes then die...

Ya sounds right.
If not I have nothing but good things to say about Larry and the boy's down at Sportcraft. I spent alot of time and wasted money taking my 8hp Honda to Tom's and finally got it fixed Right at Sportcraft. My 2.
