I fished it monday, where there were only the three fish caught right in there, plus my shad! There were several replies from people fishing just monday, any reports on if it's improved or been better at times since then? Thanks for any help. TOC.

OFC, A friend and I fished near the mouth of the Sandy on monday and the wife and I on Tuesday. Monday I got an unclipped nook that was close to 30lbs on a small brass spinner, Tuesday nothin'. There was a boat fighting one when we left from the shad lines on the Camas side. From the talk and reports I've heard there's not much being caught. Supposedly there were a few caught up around 49 and 50 on the shallow end of the line. Have a friend that was out yesterday that said the weeds were even worse than they were on Mon. and tues., and no fish to boot(out of 20 boats) according to the checker at Chinook Landing. The checker told my friend there was only one nook checked in at Bonneville.
I'm going to give it a week or so.

Hate to tell you guys this...but there ARE fish out there.

Dorkie...think about what you said...."the fish must be taking a different route...."

Trust me...they're moving through.

My friend and I fished at 50 yesterday caught two and turned them loose they had an extra fin, boat that left just before we got there caught 3,the boat along side us lost one and caught a keeper 26#'s.The fish my buddy caught must have weighed 30-35#'s mine weighd around 12.Fished there today and nothing moved up by Reed and still nothing only at reed we caught lots of grass. Its still early yet run is just getting going.Oh yea we were useing Rainbow spinners pink tip fishing in 5' of water(THATS TRUE) almost got swamped by a tug passing, by the waves they got really big in that shallow water the guy that anchored by me was washed up on shore there last week by a tug.I wore my life jacket all day today!! it was a pretty scary deal the boat was almost straight up on its side dumped my buddy on the floor and almost dumped me out.Wasn't fun !! :hoboy:

Fished the sandy ridge down around the corner of Government Island. No hits, no runs, no errors, for the eight or so boats I could see. Lots of grass, had to clean about every 15 minutes

Brion, I've got a lot of work to do around the house to get ready for our big 4th O' July party so I'll use the slow fishing and weeds as an excuse.
My fishing buddy knows about extremely top secret totaly completely hidden unknown to anybody in the whole wold water on the Columbia where there are no weeds but it is at the exact line that all june salmon take where we are guaranteed to get our limits every day spot to fish, I will most likely be fishing there next week.

dawhunt, The things some people will do for salmon eh...?? I've never tried to fish that spot but I talk to a couple of the regulars that fish that area, the current and crowds that pack in there are a bit much for me.

Went out yesterday lower on the CR with my boys. Landed 4 clipped Fish, 3 chinook (24#, 12#, 20" jack) and 1 steelhead (7#). Missed about a half dozen more strikes.

Seems that a steady flow of fish were pushing through on the outgoing tide. I think the success up here should be good going forward.

Good Luck!

Fished the outgoing yesterday afternoon off the beach on GI. Had one on and long line released it with two other drive by's. Two hits were on wobblers and one on kwickfish.

Maybe next time.

Lured In- Saw one boat that looked like it was a little far in to be fishing! So you were casting then? Reeltrouble and I fished evening also, one solid driveby and one short line release, right next to the boat! Both were slightly frustrating. Looks like there was at least a slight evening bite though. TOC.

Actually last year at this time we were only seeing a sprinkling of nookie in that area. Pretty much was a steelie show until the first week in July, then it was "Game On" !

I'm expecting similar patterns this year, just need to give it another week or two.

"If you fish it, they will bite  "--- Spinners or flatfish in 10-20' of water, 3' leader/dropper. 15# leaders and hold on tight
Here's a fish from last July. This summer nook bit a spinner in 18' of water.

TOC...were you in that fiberglass bow rider below us or in one of the boats above us? I have a teal Northriver. We got anchored up at high slack and that far in, the current was dead until about an hour into the outgoing. At one point we were just goofing off waiting for the current to pick up and my stern was almost on the beach. It was more of a kickback day for us yesterday. I was letting my 8 year old practice his backbouncing and periodic 'salad checks'.

Shallow is relative. Actually we were in 23'. There is a nice little slot in there that has been good to me in the past. We just couldn't seem to put it all together yesterday.
