Change the gear oil in my 115 Command Thrust today and as I did I was kinda surprised how little oil came out given this specification from the owners manual:
Font Material property Parallel Technology Motor vehicle

I was even more surprised when I filled it back up and there was over 15 ounces left in a quart bottle meaning under 17 ounces went in (minus spillage).
Tried again. Still full.
Put it all back together.
But it didn't sit right. So off comes the prop for another try. Same result.
Ok. So maybe there's air in the gears? So I run it for a few minutes. After removing the top plug a small amount of oil comes out. WTH?!?! It's sure full.
I can see an ounce or two being off from air bubbles (but not after running it) or from an incomplete drain (not it) but 10+ ounces?

So almost a liter is supposed to come out. Strange.

Couple tips:

Run prop in gear at idle speed for a few minutes. Let the oil heat up for easier drain.

When pumping the new oil in, take a break after a few pumps. Let the air bubbles get out. Repeat until full.
