Does anyone know if fall chinook are showing up yet around frenchmans bar? Also do these fish need to be fin-clipped or not? I was under the impression that the fall run is not clipped at all.

Any info would be appreciated. I hit the tail end of this fishery last year. This year I want to get an early start and maximize my chances at getting some fish in the freezer.

Look at the bonniville counts. Right now they are showing 500 - 800 nooks a day. Not great but fish are there. I'll begin this sunday and will fish frenchmans until the first part of September.

Good luck.

I've only fished this area with wobblers when the tide was going out. Are there any productive methods to use when the river is slack or going the other way?

Look forward to seeing some of ya out on the water.

With the gill nets in from the estuary on up to the Lewis River, during portions of Mon-Tue-Weds-Thurs. of this week, will make for slim pickings for us this weekend.

'Course ya can't catch anything if you don't try, and we have to stick around this weekend so we'll likely see you out there Waterdog.

Grumman16, people do troll the incoming using everything from K-fish to herring and spoons.

garyk, I've never worried about the nets. This is one my favorite fisheries, You should see me a lot. With and without fish.

Grumman, you could troll around, I see folks doing it all the time. I just fish the tides mostly cuz I'm lazy.

I troll a lot of spinners on the incoming tide and do pretty well. I would think herring would work well also, but I don't see too many people using them. Will they work well in the warm water this time of year?

Some boats out there today, no real hoglines yet, pretty spread out, and the fish are pretty spread out too. Current was no problem today, no wind, really nice once the clouds burned off, but SLOW. Can only get better.
