Would a vac-sealer be an idea for a Christmas gift?

Fred's has two FoodSaver models on sale right now.
The Vac-345 $59.99 and V-2840 $159.99

I was thinking about looking at Costco too.

Are there certain features to have or avoid?

Having never used one, I would appreciate your input.

Thanks

Be sure you get one with the bag cutter built in. They make one know that has setting for wet or dry foods. I wish I had that option when bagging fish. Check out thewe web site tilla.

I just got one as a wedding gift and I love it.

I bag leftovers and buy bulk meats and veggies on sale and freeze um! It's absolutly wonderful for fish.

I got the FoodSaver Ultra quite afew years ago and it's still going strong. It doesn't have any of the bells and whistles of all the other models they've come out with since then. It would make a great X-Mas gift, IF you know for sure the person getting it would use it for sure. I pretty much only use mine for smoked fish and large packs of meat from Costco. Bags are expensive so be sure and get a couple of boxes of bags too, Costco is the best for bags as far as I know.
