A GRHE soft hackle, of sorts. Coq de leon hen hackle. A very versatile pattern.

If I have some unsatisfying flies, what’s the most efficient way to remove the materials & recover the hooks?
Burn off?
Scrape with Xacto?

I use an Xacto or single sided razor blade. I put the hook in the vise and start from the head. Make short slices as close to parallel as possible to the hook shank. Once you slice through the head cement, the fly should just unravel. Good luck, CopperMan.
