Howdy all: My Lab has been pushing for another mini-fishing adventure trip lately and I have been looking at perhaps a 2 day kayak trip in the lower Columbia around the Islands in the Lewis & Clark canoe area near Knappa. Can anyone suggest which ones might work for an overnight camp where we could expect some decent fishing? Any suggestions on fishing techniques for around those islands would be most helpful. I've duck hunted there years ago, but during the winter they don't look so inviting for an overnight. Thanks for any help.

I don’t believe it is legal to camp on any of the islands inside the L&C refuge, but you need to double check with the feds, Link below. There are some islands on the Washington side that you can camp on, many do when the salmon are running.
If you call the office, they will give you the scoop.

Also, most of the islands would be a little wet for camping in the refuge. The islands on the Washington side are mostly sand and higher in elevation.
