Well I had some pretty high hopes after the epic

day we had on Thursday. So I hit the water with XTC to beat up some salmon again on Friday. One thing I learned about Chris is he hates the word epic

As you can tell every time I mention the word it makes his face twist into a crazy Clown Frown!

Any way we get to our spot and I guess some other people had figured out where we were fishing or we just motivated them to hit the water because there were 20 boats covering the area we were in yesterday but what should we expect after an epic report like the one I gave

.
Keep in mind the slot is really just wide enough for 3 maybe 4 boats. So we decided to anchor downstream a little. Not long after we are on anchor Chris gets this tart of a jack

On the Clown Frown scale it weighed 17.5 lbs... not bad for a 17.5 inch fish! This was the only fish of the day and we saw only a handfull of other fish caught. Oh well, I guess we should have been thery yesterday... hey we were!

Now the second part of my report and thank God there is no scary Clown Frown! I was planning on celebrating my 1yr aniversery of buying my boat with my family on the river today. To make a long story short my wife could not make it out becuase she consumed just a little too much adult beverages last night and did not feel up to the trip. In all reality I did not either but my kids really wanted to go out. I thought we could BBQ some burgers on the boat and drop a couple lines and head back in.

We got out on the water at the crack of 1 PM anchored up and started the BBQ. Nothing like double cheese burgers in paradise to make you feel a lot better. The weather was great

and as you can see I got one of my favorite spots all to myself.

A few hours past and the kids and I were having fun telling ghost stories. I was not really expecting to catch any fish at all then all of a sudden I hear that lovely sound that Mr. Calcutta sings when a chinooky comes a calling! To make things even better it was on my sons rod!

The last time he landed a fish I helped him quite a bit and I wanted him to fight the fish all by himself this time. I set the hook and handed it off and the battle started as I got the other two rods out of the water. This fish was pretty hot and he had a tough time but did a great job. Once the fish saw the boat he took about a 100 ft run upstream and I thought we were going to loose him in the anchor rope as I did not drop off but he decided to run out towrard the bank instead. After that he came in as nice as can be and we got our one year aniversary present for my boat this nice 23lb nook, my sons second of the season!

I am not sure what is going on with the goofy grins... I think they were saying chinook, next time I will stick to cheese!

What a great way to wind things down for me on the CR. I am so darn proud of my son with his two fish this year. Fish were caught on wrapped K-16's with anise for scent and in less than 10' of water. The one my son got today was in 5' of water. This year the shallow water fishing has really paid off for me.

Congrats Sounds like it runs in the family.
It was good to talk with you today.

We end the day with three take downs but nothing to show for it. The other boat that was with us missing two hook ups. Then moved up it to the channle and end up with one.

Beat doing yard work today.

I made the mistake of looking at this before breakfast today. I sat down to a lovely cheese and ham omelet and could only think of that ugly mug up there. I couldn't eat. Maybe we are on to some sort of diet craze.......

Introducing the Clown Frown Diet. Stare at the following pictures before eating and you will completely loose your appetite.

Good luck with the weight loss and eating anything for that matter.

EPIC

And fishnxtc suggests one should fish with the right people. Hmm, not sure those mugs could be considered human.

LOL
