I've stayed there several times in recent years. I continue to go to that general area every year with a group of friends and take at least a day to go to the resort, say hi to Bob and Nancy, the owners, and fish for BIG halibut on their doorstep.
If you're interested in going there, it is definately a beautiful place to spend some time exploring, fishing, wildlife viewing and relaxing. There are some great folks who go to Echo Bay every year and they are worth meeting and getting to know while you're there.
The only thing that Echo Bay doesn't have is perfect weather. Summertime can be sunny and warm or it can be cold and wet. Even in the worst conditions there's always a place to fish and the water is never rough.
You are thinking of going at the right time of year (late July or early August). Echo Bay also makes for a very affordable vacation.
Regards,
Rick
