Thousands enter to win tour of Portland’s sewage treatment plant

More than 300,000 fliers were mailed out to Portlanders on Jan. 21 with a curious offer: A chance to win a tour of the city’s sewage treatment plant.

Only 10 lucky winners are going to get the tour. The last industrial tour I was on had a tasting room, but that was a different industry.

It couldn't be worse than the tour I had of the fish food plant in Astoria in the 80's. I still remember that smell. Nothing like barrels of rotten fish. gag And it might be interesting to see how the process works.

Been there, done that. Didn't win it though. The company I was working for was doing some engineering consulting work for them and I got a tour of the facilities from one of their engineers. Nice place, and most of it doesn't smell too bad.

I don't understand the people who would be interested in doing this tour. They must like being around others who like to bring up old $#!+.
