Any reports on Diamond lake as of yet? I will be there for 2 weeks mid July and will report daily.

Resort said the lake is totally ice free. South ramp is open but no docks in yet. North(resort) ramp is open. Might try it this weekend. Betting water temps are chilly but no bugs yet.

Going to the kids fishing derby on the 3rd. Interested to know how it is fishing. Traditionally it has been very good for us. Hoping for the same this year.

We fished the last 5 days. It was way slow Sunday and Monday. We found fish on Tuesday and had great days Wednesday and Thursday. Some folks were still struggling. We found them shallow on power bait.

Went up yesterday..
Was surprised at the quality of water already. Doesn't take much warm weather to lose clarity even if the ice is only been off the short period of time. Of course it is the first week of June. Lots of bug in the water. The bite was pretty slow and super light. Fishing with the kids on the bottom with powerbait in about 20 ft. The fish we caught were very quality -
mid to upper teens.
Fish were stuffed full of snails.

Fished the derby with kids today. We got a later than anticipated start and caught the tail end of a good bite over by the shrimp beds. Then it shut off for us like a light switch. Moved around a fair bit and never hit big numbers again. Some folks seemed to be doing well by the outlet in 15’-20’ of water. Heard said a few times (and I’d agree) this was the slowest bite in memory during this derby. Some folks did limit, and talked to a few older gentlemen who seemed to be productive with a worm tipped wedding ring. As for us, we were chucking dough balls of various color, orange seemed beat when fish were switched on. Fish were of good grade, overall winner was 18” and some change. Our friends sent a picture of a wolf they saw on the road while leaving Lemolo early. Apparently the pack has been habituated to humans and aren’t showing fear.

6/3 to 6/5. 7 fish, then 8 and two trolling today so far. One trolling the other day but most on bait and one bobber down with worm.

Wow, nice grade of fish! Looks like the lake is calm and beautiful too. I take it those fish are hold overs, so the meat is nice and pink and firm?

Yes. Pink on anything over 12”. Stomachs stuffed. Larva and small snails…. Shells and all.
