I was out on the Deschutes recently and I have been trying to understand what tribal lands are in comparison to the warm springs reservation; specifically the tribal lands around Maupin that are managed by BLM. I have done a few internet searches but it’s not clear to me what tribal lands means other than access for tribe members and maybe the river access permits?

What info are you looking for?

Some of this is off-reservation Trust Land.....very similar status as reservation.

Some is simply fee land owned by the tribes, so in many ways similar to private property.

The tribe owns the land along the river from Buck Hollow Creek up to about Oak Springs. It is the land that was owned by the San Francisco Power Company that was planning on building a dam there many years ago.
