Friday I was fishing the river that Thumper built. I was able to bank a nice little summer run on my pretty new Roy built 1143. Since it was my first fish for this rod, I went through my normal ritual of rubbing some of the fish's blood on the fore cork. Now I'll be the first to admit that this is a bit wierd. But I view it as sort of my own little first salmon cerimony. Does anyone else have a ritual they perform when a new rod loses it's virginity?

Promptly after hooking and ultimately landing a beauty at the mouth of Eagle Creek I proceeded to break my shiny, new, Gus built 1143 rod. :depressed:

Talk about bad juju, come to think of it, I haven't caught a fish since.

The rod gods are ****ed.
