Hi Guys. I am going to be in lincoln city this weekend and was considering pulling my driftboat and doing alittle crabbing only. anyone have any experience as to where to crab? I have access to a private launch on the spit in a housing area. only going to soak two pots before the football game while girls are taking massage. does anyone have some shad that I can purchase or trade for bait. thankyou for the help in advance. cheers motorhomeman

Make sure you have some sort of depth finder and study the topical map.
There are narrow channels and very shallow areas that could get u into trouble.
Watch the weather also. Large tide exchanges avoid the jaws at all cost.
It gets windy and has high wake at times which could prove challenging for a driftboat.

I do really well around the houses along the west side of the bay. Its about 30' deep depending on the area and tide.
The pool in front of the jaws somewhat close to Mo's is productive as well.

Good luck!

This is good info!! I must have missed the 30' spot. We have been all over between the jaws and the river and have maybe found 16'. Either way, it's shallow and there are only a few channels like stated above. Most of the bay is dry at low tide. That is a great time to have a look and spot the channels. Be safe and good luck!!

Here is the tides for this weekend

Looks like high in the morning at daybreak and running out till about game time, really small tide I have crabbed all along the west side from your private launch to Mo's. As stated in other post, there are some shallow spots all around the west side. I've always done well in 10-14ft of water right before you make the turn into the jaws but far enough away from the bankies throwing there pots, poles, spinners and god knows what else. If you see the ocean you've gone to far lol.

thankkyou for all the information and the PMs. Looks like I will not set pots until 1-2 pm the first day (saturday) and pickup just prior to the beavers game and before dark. I will likely put pots from the launch north or downstream a 100yards or so and not venture any closer to the mouth of the bay. great advise. Does anyone else have any shad left , the PM for shad did not work out because of timing. ??
