Im at mother-in-laws friday night and saturday. I know the surf has been big. Would this mess up the clamming. Planing on taking the oldsters out for clamming, so just wondering if anyone has been out,and what our chances are? Were probably giong to Sunset Beach just cause thats where I end up. But if there are any hot areas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Big surf makes clamming way tough, not to mention dangerous. The shows are more difficult to see and watch for random big waves...

Good Luck..

Myself and 4 others went the other day when ti was pretty rough and we all got our limits. It's best to go with someone so someone is always watching the waves and can give you enough warning so get out of the way. We got into a clam bed and couldn't dig fast enough to get them all before the waves would come in. One tap and three or four would show. It was a lot of fun and not very many people. Just be safe.
