Ok I greased one set on a 6500 and Left 1 set dry on a 5500.

You can tell the greased set is WAY more smooth, it almost feels like my shimano curado.

Maybe they will work both ways..

From my experience the greased washers help to prevent water contamination/intrusion in the drag system as well as dissipate heat.

Seems that in a short run, dry drag washer will perform better, but in the long run greased washer will be smoother, last longer, but not provide as much stopping power as "new" dry ones.
Each choice has it's trade offs.

So far I have had no problems with the greased drags they feel great and work great but honsetly I cant tell the difference since I am a thumber!!
