I am fishing a 10.5 ft Shakespere Intrepid rod with an Okuna reel, getting ready to spool it with some 10# braided line...do you guys tie on a length of leader to the braided, then your jig and bobber? Also, what would be a good knot for braided to mono, a blood knot? Thnx for any help.

I would suggest 20lb line as a minimum for spectra line and yes I put a 10' mono leader on mine.

make sure to use some mono backer so the line dont slip. i second Keta's advice and go bigger as the 10# will knot up alot. i use i think a blood knot when attaching the mono and braid.

for fishing i would tie your braid to a swivel and then a 2-3 ft mono leader of choice. the bobber should be above the swivel.

Read this Article by Stan Fagerstrom. He details powerpro rigging.

Something I have not noticed mentioned is to spool it fairly tightly when your loading your reel. A big load on a loosely wound spool will embed the thin line and can be a major pain.
