There was a thread a while back where someone mentioned a good boat maintenance shop in or around Eugene. A smaller outfit. Tried the search function, but came up with nothin. Not Clemens, not Mels.
My throttle/ignition box is making a high pitched whistle, and makes the engine try to start/sputter when turned to the first position. Quick conversation with NR and they think it's bad and needs to be replaced. Looking ahead to next weekend where the ocean is looking fishable on a free fishing weekend, I need to get this this fixed!!! Oh the timing...
Anyone have any experience swapping these out?

Would avoid the Boat Doc on 30th in Springfield.

Fella I work with took his boat in last August for some kind of idle control doohickey adjustment on his I/O boat because it would stall when going into neutral.
While attempting to back the boat into the test tank (sounds like a big loading dock full of water) without latching the coupler onto forklift, the boat trailer hopped off the ball and slammed the out drive into the wall. After 9 months of empty promises, the lawyers are involved.
The guy left the boat, a nice SeaRay cabin cruiser, out in the weather all winter. Nice top is all wadded up and crammed in the cabin, which is now full of water. Bedding and all soft surfaces are covered in mildew and mold.

Might be a good one to avoid…

Second on avoiding Boat Doc for a host of shady reasons. You may be talking about Howard's boat repair just north of Coburg. I had him do full service on my Suzuki 225 and kicker, plus a couple of smaller issues two years ago. Great guy with reasonable prices, a couple of other people I know have taken boats there. Not sure about his availability though. He is an older guy who was trying to mentor someone to ultimately take over the shop from him.

I’ve used Howard’s boat repair before. He does a fine job, but he does not have the electronic equipment to read any codes on your engine. I use Maxxum Marine and have been happy with them. Because I have used them for a while they will get me in and out fast in a situation like you’re experiencing. Lloyd & Stacy are the owners and it would probably be best to ask for them and describe your problem to see if they can get you in this week. I have twin Yami’s.

I believe my aunt and uncle used Howard for their 32’ cruiser when they were still in the boaterhome game. Name sounds familiar. They were happy with him and recommended him to others.

Also have had good service from Lloyd and Stacy at Maxxum. Jeez. I remember when they were still building boats one at a time in their little shop on West 11th! Lloyd was a buddy’s neighbor. Nice fella.
