fine as long as it isnt sliding up the line.

 

Best to peg it rather than have it slide up. I use a rubber stop above and below it rather than pegging.

Best to peg them two/three finger widths above the hook to prevent throat hooks, especially if you're fishing streams with good native numbers......

 

Peg. On my hook. Use em just like the ol puff balls. Thumbnail size of roe in your eggloop and slide em up the shank of the hook$$$$$$

Peg, 3 finger gap to the hook and you're good.

 

FYI the best 2-3 finger gap is about 2.5”.

 

I love the steelhead stalker method to peg soft beads where you tie a tiny glass bead on the line and pull the soft bead over it. Works great and looks fishy too. I do this with BnR s also.

For soft beads, I just use one of the little rubber bead/bobber stops and slide the soft bead over it until the stop is centered in the bead. Hard beads? Peg’m

Peg, even though some "steelhead experts" would say let it slide up the line.... I like my bead next to a hook thank you.

 

The reason you should peg the bead above the hook a couple inches is to protect against the fish swallowing the bead. By pegging it above the hook you will mouth/lip hook the fish almost 100% of the time saving those hooked natives..........

 

good way I've found to beg the beads and keep them from moving is to get a barbecue brush and rip the strands off. one end is thinner than the other and it eggs it pretty well. be sure to cuts the ends of that stick out cuz that catch garbage in the water.
