depends on water clarity, but a general rule of thumb that I always use is double arms length with a black swivel, and if your bangin fish and the water clears and you stop getting them then lengthen the leader.
One to 1.5 feet of 12 pound Maxima usually. Longer for spoons, lighter line for low/clear summer. If you use a longer leader, you run a higher chance of breaking the tip guide.
