What is the best mouse poison you guys have found. I have tried Tom Cat and Just one bite. Between the tackroom and the feed truck the mice eat 2 to 3 bars a week and I don't know if I have a mega mouse problem or the poison isn't working. What is your experience with poison?

Poison kills things is ingested by target organism in a quantity necessary to cause death (assuming your product is registered with EPA for such use).

Some are single feed. Some require more than one feeding.

If you have conditions that support a rodent population, you will need to address that.

Not all folks want to hear sanitation can be an issue. Many people want to sprinkle magic potion (Rodent bait in this instance), and their problem goes away. If you have much feed and harborage around, no level of product will eliminate the problem in the long term. The product may knock numbers down, but will never eliminate all if there's a lot of food for Mickey and friends.

Food sources and harborage are a good place to start.

I suggest a few types of traps as well as checking out the Mouse Trap Mondays youtube channel. Get off poison as soon as you can due to the potential impact on other animals that might eat the dead ones. Some people say they go to their ā€œdenā€ to die, so it doesn’t matter. Mouse Trap Mondays talks about all kinds of traps including the bucket traps.

When we bought this place, it had been vacant for a few years. We lived a distance away, but I filled 6 feed stations with 2 blocks each every couple of weeks for a couple of months until they were no longer touched. One mouse can make a number of trips to the bait station before they die. They don’t die immediately. That was a few years ago, and I just pick up straggler mice in various types of traps including repeaters. It’s hard to say how many I killed, but it took a while.

Poisons work but would suggest being careful where you use them. A trap kills the mouse and you have the carcass dead in the trap. Easy disposal of dead mouse. With poison, not instant death, mouse wonders off, dies behind or under some thing. You can find the carcass but can smell it for days.

Besides conventional traps, a five gallon bucket with about one inch of water is a good trap. Mouse climbs in for a drink, can't get out. Paws and claws are slippery from being wet and plastic too hard to dig in to. Mouse drowns. My record for a bucket is five at one time.

I use the Victor traps with peanut butter. Have five in barn and occasionally one in a vehicle if signs of mice. You do not want a dead mouse up in your dash or seats.

Just one bite. Unfortunately, I have lots of experience. Stuff is amazing. Comes in large bars: using a hammer, I smash it into smaller pieces inside a ziploc bag (don't pulverize into dust since the rodents seem to prefer the small pieces, won't touch the dust) then put the small chunks where I see rodent droppings. Usually solves the problem immediately, assuming you have already gone to the trouble to completely seal up whatever holes the darn things were using to get into your stuff.

I've used both (one bite and Tom cat) with success and didn't think one was better than the other. Best anti rodent device is a good barn cat but you might have to get a few to get a good one and they come with their own set of requirements. I've seen a good mouser get 10+ mice a day or more. Good luck.

I was given a few pieces of this red extruded bait from a neighbor that was having issues. Looks like it's branded as Tomcat II Blox Rodenticide. Has a hole right down the middle so I could secure it with wire. Did the trick when I noticed a few items in the utility room getting messed with.

I switched to poison after I was tired of the constant invasion even with kill traps. I have 6 black bait stations for rats around my house. Tonight will be the first time checking them after installing mid January. I used both the yellow and the blue color bait. I think it was Tomcat and one bite. We will see what they liked most. Beat the cost of using the pest service I had going...

Parents place have tons of mice as they live in the country....They have a guy come out and do bait stations with commercial bait...they just keep coming and eating all the bait. I keep telling them they need some farm cats. Even though they may not last long with predators around...
