It's always great to spend some time out in the field with friends and then get to add a harvest on top of that is like frosting on a cake. Congrats on a great bear.
well , if your shooting puppies....yeah buddy!!!!....OMG i cant believe you use a .270 for hunting bear that is way to small of a caliber:wink: good job!!!
Sooo...you've never had bear veal?well , if your shooting puppies....
the law says you cant shoot a sow with cubs, it says nothing about "just shooting the cubs:doh:
I'll go ahaed and report... I've been out twice and seen seven bears. I just got a photo from your neck of the woods and might venture over there to see what happens. I'm having a new gun built so i may wait for it to be completed before actually finding one for myself...We'll see, the right one will change my mind.good job....so jody...when we gonna get a report on your bear huntin adventures?
So does that mean you think my 25-06 is to small? And how much more energy does just about any rifle have compared to a bow?yeah buddy!!!!....OMG i cant believe you use a .270 for hunting bear that is way to small of a caliber:wink: good job!!!
Bows are not about energy like guns are.So does that mean you think my 25-06 is to small? And how much more energy does just about any rifle have compared to a bow?
Yes but it takes energy to punch throe the hide and get in to the good stuff doesn't it?Bows are not about energy like guns are.
It was maybe 150...but they can put on 100 more lbs by fall. Spring bears are smaller. It measured 5 ft exactly from nose to tail.nice bear what did he weigh

lol!Actually, Jeff, Jonathan, and Jody are 6'8", 7'1", and 6'10" respectively. And the bear weighed 325# dressed. The rain just makes it look smaller.![]()
This was a report from his bear hunting adventures! :wink:good job....so jody...when we gonna get a report on your bear huntin adventures?
For the record I knew that shot placement is all that rely counts. because rely you could use a 22LR. and be fine if you just got close enough and hit it in the right spot [I'm not saying that I would do this just that it could be done].I'm not sure, but I think maaaaybe you're being sarcastic?
For the rest of you lol...25-06 or .270 will kill any black bear with a good shot. And while my bullets aren't condusive to long range accuracy, we all know remington core lokts blow stuff UP.
By the way...Jod, John...after skinning that bear I found 3 holes...first shot center punched him right through the boiler room but hit no bone, 2nd shot on the move entered the top of his pelvis a little far back, and the third was right on top of his left shoulder headed right down through his chest and may have clipped backbone, hence, why that one dropped him. He wasn't going far though.
From my experience, Jeff coulda rolled him with one shot if he'd have shot him with a basketball! For the rest of you lol...25-06 or .270 will kill any black bear with a good shot. And while my bullets aren't condusive to long range accuracy, we all know remington core lokts blow stuff UP.
I dunno...you remember how many "warm up shots" I needed that first game! lol! From my experience, Jeff coulda rolled him with one shot if he'd have shot him with a basketball!![]()
