So I normally fish salmon but I just bought a kayak and want to pick up bass fishing again. So far I've been to lacamas kress felida moorage and battleground lake. The fishing so far has been horribly poor only catching one large mouth. Are there any other spots I can check out for some bass small mouth or large that are close to town?

If anyone could help me out that would be awesome and
Yes I have used search but most of the threads are pretty old and didn't give me much answers

Not sure how you would access it in a kayak but I used to go into the Camas slough with my boat and catch some decent smallmouth. The Columbia will have better smallmouth fishing but in that stretch of river they can be a little spread out for a kayak. Lacamas lake has some good largemouth fishing but there is a leaning curve involved. And probably not a lot of numbers but I have seen some pigs caught there. Silver lake is probably a better bet. I have never fished there from a kayak. Figure it would be just fine though.

Im also new to fishing, and I just got my kayak this year. Lacamas is closest to home for me so that's where I spend the most time. Any tips on catching bass there? Any help getting up that learning curve would be appreciated.

There's quite a few small ponds and backwaters with bass in Clark County. Round Lake, next to Lacamas, has a bunch, plenty of cover too and easy to use with a kayak.
Battleground does have some large ones, but they are very well educated.
Lake River is a tough one, never had a lot of success there.
Mud Lake has quite a few bass and doesn't get much pressure.
The little dirty pond next to Vancouver Lake on the east shore, just off the road, has bass. Mostly small guys, some big carp too.
Klineline also has a surprising number of bass.
There's several ponds out in the Battleground area with bass, gotta hike in to them though. Let me know how it goes!

I've caught smallmouth in the Washougal River as far up as the big pool above Sandy Beach. Take the road that cuts off to the left at the bridge that crosses the Washougal on Business 14. About a quarter mile on your right is the Sandy Beach parking lot. I've spent many an hour watching the smallies swimming around the big boulder at the head of the upriver rapids when the steelhead fishing was slow in the summer. Have caught lots of smallies in the big pool upriver in my inflatable white water kayak. There's some big ones in there.
Any of the Columbia backwaters have largemouth in them. Caught lots of them in the old log ponds in my younger years. Have caught lots of smallies in the Columbia any place you find outflow pipes, lots of other places as they move around a lot, but some places are magnets. Look on shore as you move around, rock on shore near the water's edge will also be in the water itself, smallies love rock.
