My buddy just picked up his first drift boat. It's an older alumaweld. We were talking earlier about him being a wrap done on it. Neither of us had any idea what the cost would be. Has anybody on here had a drift boat wrapped before? If so would you mind sharing the approximate cost? Thanks ahead of time for any info.

Can't say for a drifter but if you go that route my suggestion is to get the thickest mil available. I did my 23' sled a couple years ago and my only regret was not going heavier on the material. The lighter mil stuff is easier to damage and with a drifter I would think that may be a factor.
One of Ifish's sponsors is a member here that specializes in wraps. The name escapes me but maybe someone else will chime in. He is located in the Gladstone area. He has a very good reputation and does outstanding work.

Call Coho Designs. Brad Baker. Greenbuttskunk on here.

If you can’t find it, PM me. I’ll get you in touch. His shop is in Clackamas. His work is everywhere.

I have bottom coating 5” up in hopes any rock hits will be there or below. If I hit a rock higher on the side, I would imagine it would scratch paint almost as easy as the vinyl. Powder coated aluminum would probably be the most durable for abrasion resistance.

I’ll be happy if it lasts a couple of years. Then I’ll spend another $200 and do it again. Maybe a different color so I think I have a new boat again :)

I half wrapped a 18 ft sled....about 100 bucks for the wrap material.. a few more for cleaner and acetone to wipe it down... fun and easy project. Would be pretty easy to do a drifter. But in no way would it look like what Greenbuttskunk does if you get within 5 ft.. He is a professional and I am not.

I had my 16' 1985 Alumaweld wrapped 8 years ago. It came painted white and I wanted a different look. It cost me about $1000 if I remember correctly. It looked brand new when done, but any rock you bump will rip the vinyl. It still looks pretty good specially from a distance, but up close you can see the tears. I am not sorry I did it, but I agree with others that it is a tool and prob best left just as bare aluminum. If I bought a new drift bot, it would be bare and I would leave it that way. This pic is from this summer, but it is too far away. I dont have a current close up.
