Was it a spindle that broke? Or the pipe that runs between them? You might get by with just having a welder repair it. Some of those drop axles can be difficult to find exact replacements for. I always get mine at Coyote Steel just north of Eugene. There is probably someone closer to beaverton.
Yes the spindle broke flush where it is welded into the axle.. the other half is in the hub with bearings and all... it looks as if the spindle could be grinded loose but there isn't much room for error as the housing isn't much bigger than the spindle!
