Very nice Arima! I had a Sea Chaser for about 10 years and really loved it.

I agree with the Arima website - lots of friendly and knowledgable people on there.

One suggestion I would make would be to add Smart-Tabs. I got a lot of differing opinions on the Arima site, some said Smart Tabs, other said they were a waste and to go with electric or hydraulic tabs.

However, for me, the Smart Tabs were the best thing I ever did on the boat. Much less expensive and no maintenance, and they made a huge difference in my ability to jump up on plane faster and to plane at lower speeds.

Some rocket launchers and a nice radar on that hard top would also be pretty sweet!

Nice boat!

+1 on the Arima owners site. Great resources there for every possible question you might have, and a pretty friendly bunch of folks.

Tabs of some kind do help a bunch with the ride of Arimas...with the fuel tank + motors + batteries in the stern, they can sometimes want to plow (especially the smaller hulls). Tabs let you bring the sharp part of the bow down more easily while still maintaining good speed and fuel economy, for a better ride.

Wow! Nice looking hard top! I'm new to Arima with an SC17 purchased late February.

I'm gradually working my way from shaking down all systems in local lakes and the Columbia, to playing with more wind, current and chop @ Ilwaco, now looking for nice days to cross some bars. It'll be nice getting to some of my favorite spots standing on a boat rather than awash in a kayak.

Cool boat.

I have a 21 Sea Ranger too but with a very different hardtop.

Definitely go on the Arima site mentioned and introduce yourself there.

I would like to hear more about your setup.

Nice boat. I'm glad to hear the positive info on the smart tabs. I just order a pair last week. My 17' sc leans to the port side, from the weight of the kicker motor and seat box on that side, unless I'm running solo. Hoping they will help level the boat out while running.

Arima owners.com like everybody else says is where you will find all your arima ? answered. They even have factory info there with past and present build folks to answer your questions. The largest concerns for me would be tabs for trim where to mount my downriggers and pullers and the most important fishing accessory ever invented an autopilot for your kicker. I can't stand to fight wind and waves when trolling and a TR-1 made all the difference in the world for me never have another boat without it. Out bottom fishing keeps you on your spot back trolling into the drift I can keep lines straight down I just have to remember to keep a safe eye out it turns out it can't fix stupid and you can hit stuff if you don't pay attention like other boaters often seem to do.

PDXmgunner and I have the same boat except I haven't named mine yet! You'll love your Arima. Very fishy!

Had mine out in water I had no business being in and never felt threatened. That said, I don't recommend it. We all live and learn! :palm: Be safe and get that bugger stinky!

I've had my 1990 Arima 19' Sea Ranger for 23 years and still get compliments on how nice it looks. It has done it all, ocean, rivers, lakes, camping and still get'n it done. I'm looking for a dual axel trailer for it though if anyone knows where I can find one at a reasonable price. They are heavy boats and when you have a flat or bearings burn up it can put a kink in your day.....

If the boat has saddle tanks be very careful of water getting in them. I kept the fill caps greased and it did nothing. Ended up putting duct tape over them and covering the vents. Getting that mess cleaned up and the tanks functioning was a real chore. If I got another one (number 3) I’d do everything I could to get the main fuel tank off the back of the boat. The wash down pump switch was another problem. Finally disconnected it. Don’t know where they’re located on newer boats.

I have had a 1990 Sea Ranger since 1996 & love it. I fish the ocean in the summer and the rivers & lakes in the winter. I have had it out as far as 30 miles. The one thing I did was to take the fresh water tank out of the bow and use the bow for storage. I have a 30 lb. anchor, chain & rope, tool box, jump starter and other stuff in its place. It still looks pretty good for being rode hard and put away wet. The name of the boat is Lena K. If you see me, come by and say hi.

If the rocker switch gets accidentally turned on then relocate it! Just make a new plate without the switch cutout. The old style vents on all boats had a tendency to intake water under right circumstances. The new design wont. I can spray my vents with a hose at all angles and no water goes in.

Here’s my 17’ Ranger. Trim tabs make a huge difference in holeshot and ride in the chop. I have Bennett hydraulics. I’m probably going to remove the fresh water tank. It’s valuable storage space, and a pain to fill. I use an MSR bladder to rinse lures and reels. I’d love some rocket launchers, but can’t bring myself to drill holes in the roof.

I always knew when I bumped the switch because the plug didn't seal well and it looked like I pist my pants. The factory didn't tighten the clamp on the hose where it came out of the pump and the boat started to take on water one day. If your bilge pump comes on for no reason at all, this would be the first place to look. Make sure you drain the system before winter or you'll need to replace the pump come spring. They don't freeze well with water in them.

I have had my 19' SR hard top since we bought it new in '89. Lots of war wounds and has been from Canada to Southern Oregon coast, all the salt in between. Now mostly lakes around Central Oregon. If they ever have another Lake Washington sockeye season I might trailer her up there for that. Lots and Lots of great memories. Repowered in '06 and upgraded the kicker and TR1 in 2015.
