Those old guides were pretty heavy and probably affected the action a little bit, negatively. That's why I suggested adding one or two more, the extras will weigh less than the old ones and improve the action. I like having a full 24 inches between the center of the reel seat (where the reel actually goes) to the first guide. For trolling and doing pulls, this will give you an accurate measurement of the amount of line you have out just like a mechanical line counter. Just as accurate.

Reeder like all the other local shops would use any blank you chose to build your rod, but they had rack rods in the front also made on Lamiglas, G Loomis, Talon, etc. blanks you could buy. You could use the Lamiglas charts I posted on the rod and tackle building site here very recently. Suggested guide sizes are also on those charts and are smaller and lighter guides than would have been on the original casting version of that blank, your larger tip size may affect what size tip top ceramic ring size is available, don't be concerned about that, it is no big deal. Why are fiberglass rod tips so large? The size of the weave and it's thickness only allows you to bend a certain amount.

Original owner was Reeder. Then Bob & Anita Rudd. Bob sold out to a 3rd party and then had to take the business back. Crockfords then bought the business. It moved it from the Hazel Dell location. Hazel Dell location wasn't much more than an old shed. I have multiple Reeder rods. Still use one on occasion. Typically, Lamiglas blanks. Did the custom wrapping and imported the cork for the handles. Used to be considered a premier rod. I know the company very well.

The first spot was in a residential area ( Large Garage Shop)
They had a store on 99th and Hazel Dell Avenue for a short time. I believe that was their second spot then the one on St John's

Yes they sold colgroves, another vancouver-based product?
What cross street on St. John's ?
Arnold Riegger's old shop location is another mystery for me.

I've got two Reeder Sticks. A 1 piece 11' with * Custom By Reeder Rods * S-166-C ... And the name
Jon Rhodes 8-90. All hand painted on it. And a 2 piece 11' * Designed by Reeder Rods * E-165-C 8 oz. and the name
"Gail" 3-92. All hand painted on it.
Bought them in the 2000ish from a guy in SW WA. Best Plunking Rods there is IMHO.
Now if the MORONS at WDFW would get a clue on managing Springers, I might be able to use them again at Ringold before I step into Glory.....:cautious:

I bought my first Reder Rod in 1954 while I was working in a grocery store at Fruit Valley Road and West 39th street. I armed this 9ft rod with a Plueger Rocket casting reel and ride my bike from home to Davis Bar and Frenchmans Bar and use a Cherry Bobber it was great fun
Hello from another local old timer. For me, this was 15 years later, in 1968 or so. Camas area. If you'd like a boat trip, tell me. It would be fun to take you out and tell stories about the old area.

I'm in Woodland, 15 min north of Vancouver. Hit me up when you are in the area sometime, or reach out in advance of the first week of September, and we could schedule a fall salmon day.

I found this rod at a yard sale, looks to be from the 1970s. Fiberglass, 9 foot long. As you can see, the label is pretty beat up. I can make out "Vancouver" on the label, but don't know if that is WA or BC.

Just curious of anyone has heard of them before, and know anything about them. Thanks!

Made in Vancouver, WA. Was the rod to have fifty years ago.

If you cannot find a replacement tip, you can do a static test on what you have, reposition the guides and rewrap it. The action of the blank will change a bit but it will still fish.

Contact Pearl he has the skill and know how to do it.
