We've been selected for blind #6 on Tuesday 1/18 and were unsure about the water levels. Last year i hunted blind #2 in January and water was right at the bench. Got the same email from the wildlife area stating that the path to the bridge was flooded but unsure about the water in #6. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks!

I drove by it on Friday on the way to the casino. There was water on both sides of the highway in Gaston. Refuge look flooded. The path to the bridge was under water from the flooded creek. You should have plenty of water. Blind 6 is the better blind out there from what I recall.

Talked to a buddy who was there yesterday for first time. Water was almost to top of waders getting to blind. They were the only hunters who showed up. Hunting was poor.

Do you know which Blind they were in? Prepared to turn around and find another activity for the dog for the day

I continue to watch how this area plays out.

I hunted this area for a few years. Long enough to know that it can offer some pretty good opportunity.

As timing would have it, received email from the NWR staff yesterday afternoon that had some info and pics i thought i'd share with those curious. Looks like blinds are huntable but might not be a bad idea to bring along some camo netting to brush in the blind a bit. The email stated blinds 1,2,3 would be similar in water levels until we received more rain

I see what you did there

I too have some fond memories of hunting out there in the early 2000’s. Used to be great, and more than just a sprig, spoony, teal hole as you know.

Somewhere is a great video of me dumping out my waders. The fence posts were about 6” out of the water. I thought the ditch was on the other side of the fence, it wasn’t, and it was DEEP!!

I’ve got Blind 6 on 1/25. Interested to see how things go for you on your hunt.
I’ve also got a “new to me” Clackamax sitting in the driveway and steelhead in the rivers. If things aren’t going well out at Wapato we will call an audible and chase steel!

Threw my name in the hat to help volunteer out there in the future as I live close by. Seems they are still in the learning curve, this being only the 2nd year, and hopefully they will have blind maintenance/improvement during future seasons.
